Criteria for Participation in the School for Leadership
Participants in the School for Leadership must meet the following criteria:
- Currently engaged in work in the United States, Northern Ireland/Ireland, or Israel/Palestine as a religious or grassroots leader working to reconcile and heal communities where religious identity is part of a conflict or division. More than one year of experience is preferable.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Have previously participated in one of the central programs offered by the Mastery Foundation such as the Making a Difference workshop or the Ireland or Israel Intensive.
- Have some experience applying and using the principles and distinctions of the Mastery Foundation in the work they are doing in their community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to and demand for realizing the outcomes promised by the School for Leadership. We particularly look for participants who are ready to take new ground and take on new and bigger challenges.
- Understand the time commitment. The School requires 100% participation. Residential program dates are known in advance. Missing any part of these programs is not acceptable.
- Willing and able to participate fully and with integrity at each level of the school - in the scheduled programs, course work, phone calls, and field work in the community. In particular, this means trusting the process of the School, staying in regular communication with others in the School, and being on time.
- Open to new ideas and willing to work with a wide diversity of other grassroots and religious community leaders.
- Have the support of colleagues and family who will be affected by the time and effort required to participate fully in the School.
- Have the financial resources so that participating in the School does not create a hardship in other areas of life and work.
- Have a computer and experience working with email, Microsoft Office software, PDF files, conference calls, web-based phone services such as Skype, and using the Internet (including downloading files and online searches).
- Have the necessary level of physical, emotional, and mental well-being to meet the demands of participating in the School.
